Some days, the mind feels like a room with every light switched on.
There are messages to answer, ideas arriving at once, unfinished tasks circling in the background. Even when the day is quiet, your thoughts may not be. When everything feels urgent, a reset does not need to be elaborate. It can be small enough to begin right now.
Start with the body
Put both feet on the floor. Let your shoulders drop. Unclench your jaw.
Take one slow breath in, then let it leave you a little more slowly than it arrived. You do not need to force your mind to become still. Just give your body a different signal, one that says: there is no need to rush this moment.
Make some space on paper
Take a bmby journal, or any blank page, and write down everything asking for your attention. Do not organise it. Do not make it sound neat. Let the list be honest and unfinished.
Once it is out of your head, look for one thing that genuinely needs you next. Not everything. Just one small, clear action. Reply to the message. Fill the glass of water. Step outside. Begin the first five minutes.
Return to what is here
A busy mind often travels ahead, rehearsing what might happen, or backwards, replaying what already has. A simple sensory pause can bring you back.
Notice five things you can see. Four things you can feel. Three sounds around you. The temperature of the air. The weight of the page beneath your hand.
This is not about emptying your mind completely. It is about making enough room to hear yourself again.
When the noise returns, and it will, you can come back to the same small ritual. Feet on the floor. One slower breath. A page. The next right thing.
You do not have to solve the whole day at once. And some days, you fuck it up even more. Totally fine.
